Cleaning
Cleaning uses a variety of different chemical solvents or hot surfactants to remove oil, rust, sediment, etc. from the surface of steel. It is often used to process engines, bearings, gears, etc. that are contaminated with cutting oil, grease, oil or other deposits.
Preheating
Scrap steel is often contaminated with contaminants such as oil and grease, and grease and oil that cannot be evaporated immediately can contaminate the molten metal. When the scrap stored in the open air is damp, the molten metal and the other grease and oil will contaminate the molten metal. After the waste steel stored in the open air is damp, due to the easily vaporized material such as moisture and other grease, it will expand rapidly in the furnace due to the bursting effect, and it is not suitable to join the steelmaking furnace. To this end, many steel mills use preheated scrap steel, using a flame to directly bake scrap steel, burn off moisture and grease, and then into the steel furnace. In the metal preheating system, two problems must be solved: first, incompletely burned grease can produce a large amount of hydrocarbons, which will cause air pollution, and must be solved; second, because the size of scrap steel on the conveyor belt is different. Different thicknesses cause preheating and uneven combustion, and contaminants on scrap steel sometimes cannot be thoroughly cleaned.
