Norway is developing a new generation of highly efficient solar cells

According to reports from Norwegian media, SINTEF and University of Oslo (UIO) are jointly developing a new generation of high-efficiency solar cells, which is expected to achieve results within a few years. The project also received financial support from the Norwegian Research Council.

At present, the photoelectric conversion efficiency of solar cells (a measure of solar cells' conversion of light energy into electricity) is approximately 14% to 22%. The new generation of batteries developed by SINTEF and UIO will use a new material to replace the high-purity silicon used today. So that the photoelectric conversion efficiency is doubled.
