Despite the shortage of labor and rising labor costs in some parts of China, the manufacturing industry is also facing competition from Southeast Asian countries. But yesterday, the 2013 Global Manufacturing Competitiveness Index, jointly published by the Global Manufacturing Group and the US Competitiveness Commission, one of the world's four largest accounting firms, showed that China's manufacturing competitiveness index is still present and in the next five years. Will be at the top of the list.

The index, co-sponsored by the US Competitiveness Council and Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, is a survey of 552 CEOs and executives around the world to understand the competitiveness of manufacturing in different countries and regions.

China tops the list

The results show that China will rank first in the world in 2013 or five years. In 2013, Germany and the United States ranked second and third, but their rankings will decline after five years, and Germany will rank first. Fourth, the United States ranked fifth, only slightly higher than South Korea; while India jumped from fourth to second, Brazil jumped from the eighth to the third.

In addition, the competitiveness of the other two major developed countries currently listed in the top ten of the list will also decline in five years: Canada will fall from the seventh to the eighth, while Japan will completely fall out of the top ten, retreat to ten. Two.

Talent is the key

According to the report, most of the respondents rated talents with innovative capabilities as the most important factor in improving competitiveness. Among the manufacturing competitiveness factors, global CEOs believe that talent is a key factor, talent will drive innovation; second is trade, finance and tax systems; third is labor and raw material costs.

Grow in the gap

China's manufacturing competitiveness has been attacked by the competitive pressures of developed countries and the impact of emerging economies. In recent years, the competitiveness of Asian border markets such as Vietnam and Indonesia in the manufacturing sector is on the rise. The survey also shows that manufacturers are shifting their focus to these border markets. In addition, in the manufacturing sector, China is increasingly being compared to developed countries by global CEOs. Dong Weilong, co-leader of Deloitte China's manufacturing group, said that as China increasingly focuses on the localization of supply chains and the establishment of innovation centers, the CEOs surveyed regard China as the only one that can keep pace with developed countries and have the same supplier network advantage. Emerging countries.

However, Yang Ying, co-leader of Deloitte China Manufacturing Group, said that the competitiveness of China's manufacturing industry is expected to continue to maintain its leading position in the next few years. A good policy environment – encouraging or directly investing in technology, employee education and infrastructure construction is conducive to enhancing China's competitiveness.
